First Edition.The book is complete and bound together, the front board and ffep is loose. Inscription on ffep. A few other pages are loose as the string binding has come loose, but all pages are attached. There is evidence that at some time repairs were made to some of the string however these have been done with care and do not detract from the sheer beauty of this book. There is some scuffing to the front and backboards with some loss to the covering here and there. Corners have been bumped.Numerous in-text illustrations by Florence Upton. Original green cloth-spined pictorial boards showing the Golliwogg with Sarah Jane and Peg swimming in the sea, wearing colourful sun hats.All the coloured plates are wonderfully illustrated, telling the story of their adventures at the Sea-side.
